Karachi, October 25, 2024 – The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has imposed a severe disciplinary penalty, removing customs officer Shahid Naseem Joiya from service due to corruption and serious misconduct. Joiya, a suspended Superintendent (BS-16) of the Customs Enforcement division in Sargodha, faced allegations of involvement in the illicit removal of high-value goods from the Customs Warehouse in Dera Ghazi Khan. The report concluded Joiya was culpable of “inefficiency,” “misconduct,” and “corruption” and recommended the stringent penalty of “Removal from Service” under Rule-4(3)(d) of the Civil Servants (E&D) Rules, 2020. Subsequent to the inquiry, a Show Cause Notice dated June 28, 2024, was served to the accused, offering him an opportunity to defend against the charges.
