(a).Criminal Procedure Code (V of 1898)------S. 156--- Constitution of Pakistan (1973), Art. 199--- Constitutional petition--�Investigation into cognizable offence--- Complainant had got a case registered with the police about the murder of his son with a fire; arm without naming anybody as assailant in the F.I.R. and without raising any suspicion against anyone---Complainant on having learnt about the details of murder of his son as a result of the private inquiry conducted by him brought the same to the notice of the Investigating Officer but he did not care to investigate the case on those lines and several applications made by him in this regard to higher Police Officers and the District Administrations bore no result---Police and the District Magistrate had collective responsibility under the law to have effective control over the local police so that they performed their duties within the four corners of law and the District Magistiale under the Police Rules, 1934 could even direct the Superintendent of Police -to take suitable measures for the protection and detection of crime---Matter regardit!g , the grievance of the complainant (petitioner) was referred to the District Magistrate and the Superintendent of Police concerned for looking into it and issuing direction to the concerned police officers to carry out faithful investigation of the case by affording full opportunity to the parties to produce their witnesses in support of their respective versions ---Constitutional petition was disposed of accordingly.Ghulam Abbas v.
