Land Acquisition Act (I of 1894)-------S. 23---Compensation for acquired land---Price of land fixed by Collector and Reference Court was not accepted by petitioners who were expropriated owners---Validity---Assessment of material available on record indicated that acquired land was urban residential property with prospects of being put to commercial use---Testimony of Patwari furnished some reliable material for purpose of fixing compensation for acquired land---Price worked out from chart of earlier sales, indicated that price of acquired land was much more than what was determined by Collector and the Reference Court---Average price of land per Maria was worked out by High Court from the sale index of previous sales and specified price per Marla was fixed and payable to expropriated owners--­Such land owners were found entitled to further 15 per cent. compulsory acquisition charges alongwith benefits allowed under Ss. 28 to 34 of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894.
