Industrial dispute- ---- Termination of service---Reinstatement---Services of employee were terminated by employer on ground that project on which employer firm which was a foreign organisation was working at, was of a specified duration and phase which employees including petitioner/appellant were working had been completed---Employee whose services were terminated being surplus, could not give name of any worker who allegedly was appointed in his place--­Employer had fully established that work on which employee was appointed being of specific assignments and of a limited duration admittedly had come to an end---Employee who admittedly was engaged for a specific job which otherwise was for limited duration, had become surplus after completion of that job, thus could not challenge his termination. DECISION This appeal from the order of the Labour Court Karachi dismissing the application for reinstatement under section 25(1), I.R.O., arises in the following circumstances. 2. It was alleged on behalf of the petitioner, that he had been appointed by the respondent as a Carpenter Grade-I on 2-9-1989, against a salary of Rs.1,300 per month which later on was increased to Rs.1,650. The appointment, according to him, was for the completion of the Site installation of the Jinnah Terminal of the Karachi Airport, but subject to probation of 3 months. However, the involvement of the petitioner with the trade union activities, and on 1-10-1990 a verbal duel with one Mr. Okai, Senior Executive led to the abrupt termination of his service on the 8th of October, 1990, though workers junior to him had continued in the employ of the respondent. 3.
