Summary The petitioner challenged the rejection of his candidature for the post of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), arguing that he had obtained the required Bachelor's degree before the interview and should have been allowed to continue in the recruitment process. The Court held that eligibility had to exist on the advertisement's closing date, and since the petitioner obtained his degree only in February 2025—after the closing date of 09.08.2024—he was ineligible.
