Law: Constitution of Pakistan, 1973

Section: 199

Summary The petitioner sought constitutional protection against alleged threats and harassment by private respondents and requested directions to restrain the police from arresting him or registering any FIR without the Court's permission. He also sought production of records of any pending cases against him and protection from the police. The police assured the Court that no harassment would be caused and that any FIR would only be registered if a cognizable offence was made out in accordance with law. The High Court held that this assurance adequately addressed the petitioner's grievance and directed the authorities to act strictly in accordance with the law while attending to the petitioner's complaints through the prescribed legal procedure. The petition was accordingly disposed of.
