Section:

Summary The petitioners sought directions for payment of benefits under the Prime Minister Assistance Package for Families of Government Employees, including GP Fund, gratuity, lump-sum amount, cash payment in lieu of a plot, and daughter marriage grant following the deaths of government employees. Pakistan Railways informed the Court that GP Fund, gratuity, family pension, and regular monthly pensions had already been paid. However, the Prime Minister Assistance Package was an incentive scheme subject to eligibility and availability of government funds, for which funding had already been requested from the Prime Minister's Office. The High Court disposed of the petitions by directing the competent authority to reconsider the petitioners' entitlement to the Assistance Package, provide them an opportunity of hearing, and pass a speaking order within 60 days if they were found eligible.
