(a) Contract Act (IX of 1872)-

S. 188 --- Principal and agent --- Extent of agent's authority --- Where a principal had conferred his authority on a person as his agent, such agent could act only within the compass of authority so conferred on him under the power of attorney --- Where, however, such power was cha lenged Court's function would be to see on a fair construction of the whole instrument, the authority in question, either in express words or by necessary implication.
