Law: Punjab Land Disposition (Saving of Shamilat) Ordinance, 1959
Section: 3
SUMMARY:Shamilat Dispute
These writ petitions challenged the distribution of Shamilat Deh (common village land) under consolidation proceedings. The petitioners argued that they were unfairly excluded from land allotment or given less than their due share, but failed to prove legal entitlement or documentary evidence of rights in Shamilat. The court held that the distribution was in accordance with the law, backed by decades of finalized consolidation, with 98% of landholders accepting the scheme. Given the limited scope of writ jurisdiction under Article 199 and absence of any illegality, the court dismissed the petitions.
