Section 2(m) of the Wealth-tax Act, 1957, read with section 68 of the Finance Act, 1956 - Net wealth - Debt owed - Assessment years 1960-61 to 1965-66 - Whether income-tax paid on amount disclosed under section 68 of Finance Act, 1965, was deductible in computing net wealth of assessee - Held, yes FACTS In pursuance of the Finance Act, 1965, the assessee disclosed certain income voluntarily and paid tax thereon. The AAC also held that the assessee was not entitled to the deduction of the tax in computing the net wealth. This view was upheld by the Tribunal. On reference : HELD The tax payable under the Income-tax Act, on the amount disclosed under section 68 of the Finance Act of 1965, was deductible in computing the net wealth for the relevant assessment year.
