Section: 144,144(4),145
(a) Interpretation of statutes--- ----Role of a Court---While interpreting any statute Court/Tribunal was not to alter its provision(s) but to iron out its creases so as to avoid any absurdity, inconsistency or redundancy---Court/Tribunal was duty-bound to avoid "head on clash" between two sections of the same statute and, whenever it was possible to do so, to construe provisions which appeared to conflict so that they harmonized ----Statute was an edict of the Legislature and elementary principle of interpreting or construing a statute was to gather the mens or sententia legis of the Legislature.
