Association as well as participants of the Seerat Conference.\r\nThe Conference is in line with the efforts of the Bar to \u0027discuss and\r\ndeliberate upon the life, struggle and achievements of the Prophet of Islam, so\r\nas to draw appropriate conclusions and guidelines. I commend the efforts of the\r\nBar in organising such an event of far\u0026#8209;reaching significance, which\r\nbesides its intellectual input and spiritual value would also be of practical\r\nuse. The life pattern of the Holy Prophet and the principles, he followed,\r\noffer an emulative model to others. On the completion of\r\nhis life span, the Qur\u0027anic prophecy was fully established as he succeeded in\r\ntransforming the life, behavioural pattern and societal conditions of Arabia\r\naltogether. The Arabian society, which in the pre\u0026#8209;Islamic period\r\nreflected barbarity, savagery and chaos, became civilised, humane and socially\r\nand politically organised.\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp class=MsoNormal style=\u0027text-align:justify\u0027\u003e\u003c![if !supportEmptyParas]\u003e\u0026nbsp;\u003c![endif]\u003e\u003co:p\u003e\u003c/o:p\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp class=MsoNormal style=\u0027text-align:justify\u0027\u003eThe Prophet of Islam possessed in\r\nhis personality the qualities of an affectionate father, loving husband, benign\r\nruler and just administrator. His philosophy and teachings reflect these\r\nqualities, to be imbued and emulated by the succeeding generations. They offer\r\na great deal to modern rulers, leaders and judges. The Qur\u0027anic Injunctions to\r\njudge in accordance with the commandments in the Holy Book and Islamic\r\nprinciples of equity and justice were followed by the Prophet and the Pious\r\nCaliphs. This is amply demonstrated in their rulings and judgments. The Prophet\r\nparticularly emphasised upon the supremacy of law and equality of all persons\r\nbefore the law. In a tradition reported by Imam Bukhari, it is stated that once\r\na delegation of prominent Quraysh elders approached him for seeking \u0027 remission\r\nof sentence of a convicted thief. The Prophet was visibly annoyed with such a\r\ngesture. He told the delegation that nations before them were destroyed because\r\nwhen a person of high social status committed theft, they let him off, but when\r\na weak person committed an offence, they inflicted\u003cspan style=\"mso-spacerun:\r\nyes\"\u003e  \u003c/span\u003epunishment upon him. He then vowed that he would not spare even\r\nhis daughter (Fatimah), if she were to be found, guilty of an offence. \u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp class=MsoNormal style=\u0027text-align:justify\u0027\u003e\u003c![if !supportEmptyParas]\u003e\u0026nbsp;\u003c![endif]\u003e\u003co:p\u003e\u003c/o:p\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\r\n\u003cp class=MsoNormal style=\u0027text-align:justify\u0027\u003eThe administration of justice in\r\nIslam is a serious and onerous responsibility. Rulers and judges are ordained\r\nto establish justice, no matter how difficult the conditions and how harsh the\r\nsituation. Stand\r\nout firmly for justice, as witnesses to Allah, even as against yourselves, or\r\nyour parents, or your kin, and whether it be (against) rich or poor: for Allah\r\ncan best protect both. They have to stand\r\nfirmly as protector of the honour, property and rights of all, in particular,\r\nthe weak and vulnerable as against the strong and resourceful. They have to\r\nshun distinction and discard discrimination on any ground or basis, whatsoever.\r\nWhile administering justice, they should not be influenced by any consideration\r\nof worldly, influence or gain.
